Zignal
Zignal
The shop is closed now, check back later.
Zignal is an innovative app designed to bridge the gap between customers and shop owners by providing real-time information about shop status (open/closed) and other essential details.
Problem
In today’s fast-paced world, knowing if a local shop is open before visiting is essential. Many people waste time, fuel, and energy traveling to shops that are unexpectedly closed, often facing traffic and pollution along the way. This frustration can lead to shopkeepers losing customers, a problem especially common in India.
Solution
Zignal offers real-time updates on shop statuses, allowing users to see if shops are open or closed before visiting. Additionally, the app facilitates in-app communication, enabling users to chat with shop owners to inquire about products and notify them of their visit, enhancing convenience and building stronger relationships between customers and shops.
Surveys
During my survey, I spoke with numerous people, including both customers and shopkeepers. They all highlighted the common issue of checking shop hours and expressed confidence that our app will effectively address this gap.

User Flow
Wire framing
Designed 16 low-fidelity wireframes for the Zignal app, making several iterations to refine the design and improve user experience with each version.
Design Inspiration
Took inspiration from hundreds of different apps to create a clean, minimalistic, and attractive design for Zignal, ensuring the app is both visually appealing and user-friendly.
Color Schemes
chose off-white, white, and black for the Zignal app to achieve a clean, minimalistic look. These colours not only create a sleek design but also subtly resemble the black used in traffic signals, reinforcing the app's connection to its purpose.

Logo Iteration
Designed multiple logos for Zignal, ultimately concluding that the concept of Zignal comes from Signal, representing the status of shops with green, red, and yellow lights. The final logo is a black signal icon on a off white background, with yellow as the chosen colour. Red and green were avoided because they explicitly indicate closed or open shops, while yellow leaves it ambiguous.
Collateral
Created stickers, flyers, and Pamphlet for Zignal to boost user engagement and support marketing efforts, with the goal of attracting more people to the app.
Landing Page
Designed a minimalistic landing page for Zignal, focusing on simplicity by including just the essential links for Android and Apple app downloads, along with some key information about the app. This clean design ensures users can easily access what they need without distractions.
My Role
Led the design and development of Zignal from start to finish. As the Product Designer, I created wireframes, mockups, and prototypes. I worked with developers and other teams to make sure the product met user needs and business goals. I also did user research, tested designs, and made improvements based on feedback. My goal was to deliver a high-quality product on time and keep users happy.
