Instabuk

Instabuk is an app designed for students to easily buy and sell second-hand textbooks within their school or college, saving money, Time and reducing waste.

Problem

College and school students often struggle to find affordable, second-hand textbooks. With a syllabus that typically remains consistent, there is a strong demand for used books. However, students face challenges locating these books, as there is no dedicated platform tailored to their specific educational needs and institutional affiliations. This often results in time-consuming searches and missed opportunities to buy or sell textbooks within their own community.

Solution

Create an app that enables students to buy and sell second-hand textbooks specifically within their own college or school. The app will facilitate connections between students, allowing them to easily find and exchange books relevant to their courses and syllabus. By focusing on the same institution, the app ensures a more streamlined and efficient process for acquiring and selling textbooks.

Survey

Conducted informal surveys with college mates, friends, family, and cousins to gather feedback on Instabuk. The response was positive, with many supporting the idea. However, I acknowledge the need for more extensive research and plan to survey a broader audience to strengthen the case study and refine the app’s features.

Wireframes

Created 11 low-fidelity wireframes for Instabuk to outline the app's basic structure and flow. While the lines and text are rough, they serve to map out key features like navigation, search, and book listings. These drafts are intentionally simple to focus on layout rather than design details.

Logo & Color

Designed the Instabuk logo by using the letter "i" to represent the brand. The dot on the "i" is a book, and the vertical line resembles a bookmark, symbolising books and reading in a simple, meaningful way.

Choose green for Instabuk because it symbolises saving trees, time, money, and energy. It's also a fresh and positive colour, which fits well with our app's purpose.
